Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken action against Bahria Town properties in Karachi, Lahore, Takht Pari, New Murree Golf City, and Islamabad by sealing multiple high-rise residential and commercial buildings.
According to reports, NAB has frozen hundreds of bank accounts linked to Bahria Town and seized dozens of vehicles as part of an ongoing fraud investigation involving real estate tycoon Malik Riaz and his associates.
NAB officials stated that certain individuals are illegally transferring funds to Malik Riaz’s Dubai project. The anti-graft watchdog has initiated extensive measures to bring him back to Pakistan.
In an official statement, NAB reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public interests and cautioned citizens against fraudulent schemes. It highlighted that multiple corruption cases against Malik Riaz and his associates are under investigation.
Several references have already been filed in accountability courts in Islamabad and Karachi, summoning the accused for their alleged involvement in illegal land acquisitions and fraudulent housing schemes under Bahria Town’s name. NAB claims to possess irrefutable evidence of their involvement in land-grabbing activities in Karachi, Takht Pari (Rawalpindi), and New Murree.
As part of recent crackdowns, NAB has sealed Bahria Town properties in multiple cities, including commercial and residential high-rise buildings, and continues to intensify its actions.
Furthermore, NAB has obtained evidence of money laundering linked to Malik Riaz’s latest luxury apartment project in Dubai. The bureau warned that any funds transferred from Pakistan to this project would be considered part of illegal money laundering, with legal action to follow against those involved.
NAB has urged the public to avoid investing in Bahria Town projects, cautioning them against falling for deceptive offers. Efforts are underway in coordination with other government agencies to extradite Malik Riaz and his associates, ensuring they face justice in Pakistan.
